Doris' rum balls

My friend, Peter, and I used to steal as many of these as we could off the buffet table, pop them in our mouths and try to act drunk. We had no idea that for all their flavour, there was only a quarter cup of rum in a whole recipe.

I found Mom's recipe last week and made them for the first time today. They taste like a part of my childhood. What does that say about my chilhood? I have no idea but here is this easy to make awesome recipe.

1 cup of vanilla wafers finely crushed (I live in the country so I had to make do with honey graham crumbs
1 cup of confectioner's sugar
1 and 1/2 cups of nuts (chopped our ground) I used my coffee grinder.
2 tablespoons of cocoa

Combine these ingredients in a bowl.

Add 2 tablespoons of corn syrup
and 1/4 cup of rum to the mixture.

Shape into 1 inch balls and roll into granulated sugar.

Enjoy!
